Cold Play

Women's Fashion

The First Snow came early this year! That unexpected event gave me a reality check and thrust me into winter mode. I begin to feel that familiar excitement! Visions of sugar plums dance in my head. Along with gray days comes the anticipation of all the season brings: Galas, parties, celebrations, late night dates, and lest we forget, holiday family gatherings. All opportunities to shine… literally. Remember, while navigating these events, the best antidote for a cold, dreary day or night, is looking fierce. So let’s play, regardless of the cold, in high style.

With so many options, where do we start?  Who does not have a little black dress (aka LBD), a reliable standby that works in a pinch and never disappoints?  Don’t want the same old, same old?  It won’t feel old if you put on the glitz!  Kick it up a notch with a bauble or two, a belt, or, make a statement with a colorful jacket.  Wear a slim turtleneck with a metallic jacket.  If you’ve got great legs, show them off in a slim or kicky skirt.  If not, a pant always looks great, especially when paired with dramatic shoes.   Hey!  How about a leopard ankle bootie or strappy high heel?   If you crave comfort and style and glamour, try a glittery flat.  It’s simple, think color sparkle, animal prints and cashmere.  It may be cold outside, but you can still play and feel fabulous.

My mother always said, “Be a Leader never a Follower”.  Well, there are exceptions to that rule. When you’re following a trailblazer, all bets are off!!!  The First lady, Michelle Obama, has raised the bar and raised gym memberships by setting a new President….oops, I mean precedent.  She has single handedly shown us that sleeveless is season less.  The cold weather shouldn’t cramp your style.  Never forget, the beauty of ethnicity is its variety.  We love all our shapes and silhouettes.  Stand Proud and embrace all the possibilities…
